I have to admit I rather like my test strip as well!  ;D   Perhaps I should market my test strips as bookmarks!  :2funny:

I know this could still be better, but I really lost heart in it. The center piece is out of whack as I couldn't seem to get the colour properly mixed to match once the red wash had been added. I feel the transitions do not show as well as they did, I lost some of the separation between the layers.

So I grade this as a 'not too bad', but will start to pay more attention to my 'voice' telling me when to stop. This will go into the book as a reminder that if I am not sure of something, stop, back away, and listen to what my gut tells me. If I'm not happy with the test strips...don't do it.

On the other side of things, I had limited myself completely to a very limited palette of to me, unfamiliar paints. I think if I had pulled out my other paints and used one of the reds from there, it would probably have come out better.

Lesson learned... even when working with a restricted palette, you have to give yourself some leniency sometimes.

I thank you all for your kind remarks.  :thankyou:     Now then, I have a new stretched paper waiting, what's next? .........   :heeha:     :painting:
Cheers, Val

This is what I liked the most :yippee: It's not about getting the colour right - it's about getting the technique(s) right O0 Incidentally I really liked the colour you had in the centre section.

Dennis you are right, I am most assuredly my own worst critic! Must be the  >:D in me!  ;D
I know it is the technique more than the colour, but when the technique appears to be working...then by Jove I want it, colour and all!!!  :2funny:
I shall do my best from now on to 'lighten' up on myself  ...... but can't promise!  >:D    ::)

Val;  I like your color test sheet.  This is what I do to keep a record for a project in case I need the colors again. Kathy

See, we do seem to have a test sheet challenge developing!

Such neat work, Kathy.  Is Kingfisher a brand of paint?  I'm not familiar with it.
