Lovely, Christina.
Did you watercolor the background first?
What kind of paper did you use?
What did you use for blending/burnishing?

Thanks, Mea. Another attempt at drawing, as well! It came from a book and I don't know why they petal in the front was so short. I think maybe it is because of the "foreshortening"(spelling?) theory? Anyway, I agree, it does grab your attention.
Sue, I used 140lb water color paper. I have tried a colorless blending pencil, a blender stick and a white pencil. No liquids yet. I personally like the white pencil. It seems to blend better to me. It only makes a slight difference in the color. As far as the wash in the background, I just washed right over the drawing! It is waxed based so I just brushed over and quickly wiped the flowers. If you leave any of your paper for "whites", of course you couldn't do that.

and yes the short petal in front is due to foreshortening:

Christina, these are beautiful with brilliant color. I don't know anything about these pencils but they look like watercolor. I think it is your excellent skill. Lovely.

Attempting? Well do us a favour and keep attempting! Beautiful work. As I was reading through I was going to mention Nolan's little video on foreshortening.... as usual beat me to it, not unusual as he knows where all the videos are!!!
Looking forward to the next one.
