Bogart 2 months old

Details
This is a erasable coloured pencil drawing of my daughters boxer at the age of two months. Sadly he had to be put down earlier this year at age nine.
I have to say that coloured pencils are much harder to do than standard pencil drawing, but if it works it is very satisfying. I think I will add a bit of background shadowing before putting it away. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated however.

Cute dog, Alan. Yup, some shading would give it some punch.

Cute pup Alan. I think you are doing well and yes, coloured pencils are darned difficult and also very hard on the fingers I feel, as you have to use such pressure. However, beautiful work has been done with them and who comes to mind is Ray, Jill and Lynn's work, there are others too. You should take a look at some of their drawings for they are excellent.

Aw, Bogart is adorable Alan.
Having never done much with colour pencils other than the required geography maps in school,
I can't be much help with technique here. I just think you've done a very good job and I'm bound to say so.

Thank you all for your nice comments.
This drawing is special as it is my daughters dog and he had to be put down several months ago at the age of nine.
Somehow this info was not in the original post even though I remember typing it.

Alan: Bogart is really cute. Just give him some darker shadows. Kathy

That's a cute little doggie looking up at me !!!
Alan, have you tried experimenting with coloured pencil on different other papers?
This summer, I tried a new kind of coloured pencil, Col-Erase. I bought them on Amazon.com.
They are inexpensive, water-soluble and erasable. I love them so far, but haven't had a lot of chance to use them.
Right now, my fingers are in oil paint, up to my elbows sometimes even!
I've tried using these pencils to draw with to start a painting. The Col-Erase pencil incorporates into the paint. I want to experiment more with these.

So sorry to hear of Bogart's demise.
I so miss the animals I've had in my life.
Now I just have the wild ones that live all around me... and a few curious monkeys! I'm really going to miss them when we leave.
