Nolan,
Is Permafilla the same as Platre de Paris (Plaster of Paris) or Drywall Compound?
Thanks, Annie

My daughter and I did the mixed media sunflower class.
The photo did not come out that well. We used acrylic for the backgrounds, various beads for the seeds and kebab sticks for the bits that stand out in the middle. We did not use the same size canvas as Nolan, much much smaller.
Maryna's sunflower (my orange on the petals did not come out clear in the photo)

Well done Maryna and Makayla on the first mixed media lesson submitted. It looks so very interesting and I can't wait for it to be brought to the AOL classes to give it a go. Guess, I will have to exercise patience as it seems this won't be until April next year!! In the interim, I will enjoy watching everyone's submissions.

Hi, watched the first video and Nolan says we'll need texture paste and texture gel.
I found a Liquitex version of "light modeling paste" and "matte super heavy gel". Just want to confirm that this is the correct stuff?
Would "super heavy be too heavy? They also have a regular or medium one. Thanks!

Hey, Denise, so happy to see you back on PB. Missed you.
I bought some all purpose Spackling Paste at Home Depot. I recall Nolan said that would do for the deep texture on the Big Five animal paintings. I will try using it here.

Wim - You will really enjoy these, they are great fun
Beautiful job Maryna and Makalya
Denise - I have not used the ones you are referring to, but it looks like the light modelling paste will work for texture paste. The super heavy gel will work for the gel except that it will retain it's height and not slump like the regular texture gel, so just bear that in mind.
In other words both those will work

Nolan the yellow paper you are using in the sunflower. Is it poster board, or copy paper? And what size is it. Please in inches.
Well this is interesting. I can't use the little smiley icons. Wonder why? Windows 10 is weird.
Maryna, and Makalya good job. CLAP, CLAP, CLAP

Nina, it is poster board, but it has already been cut into sheets. Mine are A4, so your equivalent is Letter, but you want to use a size that suits your canvas, so if required, buy poster board and cut to size

Nina, I did not have poster board, so we used thickish drawing paper and painted it. Just an option.

Thanks Nolan and Maryna,
I thought I would try vanilla file folders. I have a lot of them. I cut out a few of them and painted them. they seem to be working. But we will see. LOL
