Hello Nolan

Love this Mixed Media Sunflower!  I want to try making this one as soon as I can get the basic materials sorted out.

We have different kind of pipe cleaners here, so I am thinking to use long beads pipe shaped they would be small, but will work hopefully and for the smaller beads I think I am going to use a string of sequins for the sake of variety. Collecting stuff from my mom's crafts cabinet now 

I have 2 questions please:

My daughter and I did the mixed media sunflower class.

The photo did not come out that well. We used acrylic for the backgrounds, various beads for the seeds and kebab sticks for the bits that stand out in the middle. We did not use the same size canvas as Nolan, much much smaller.

These are lovely!    I love the idea of kebab sticks! The sunflowers look awesome against both blue and green backgrounds!!!

Does anyone know how to flip this picture. It was right side up when I put it on. Then it to to the side. 

Well anyway I did it.    Comments welcome.

Ps. I did fine the same compound that Nolan used. Just under a different name. I found it at Menards here in the States. It is called MH Ready Patch. Hope this helps. Oh Cost under $10.00 for a quart.

I got a little ahead of myself on this one.  I should have played the video before starting as I did not have all the supplies.

I made some interesting substitutions - pop corn kernels for the pipe cleaners and flax seed for the beads.  Necessity was definitely the mother of invention for this one!

I see now all the ways I could have made this better, but it still was a fascinating lesson.

My fingers are quite clumsy when it comes to handling small things so it has a sort of hackneyed look to it.

But, I like it, I really do.    Thanks, Nolan.  Cool, cool!!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.  Those mixed media classes were so much fun. 

I felt quite proud of myself for using the popcorn and flax seed. 

I just rummaged through my old paintings and found it.  Except for having lost some of the popcorn seeds, it still looks good.

It made me smile.
