Thanks, Patricia, Mary Lou, Susan, and Annie. - I had fun with this.

OK, Nolan, thanks.  I see what you mean.  Funny part is, I do not have orange acrylic paint.  I think the yellow mixed with my Quinacridone gold to make the orange.

Great lesson - lots of ways the techniques can be applied.

Ha! Mea, yours is so fun! The colors remind me of Africa and big cats in the jungle! A great original!

 :thankyou: Annie

Mary Lou, thank you! I really love the process of these. I enjoy getting my hands more involved and dirty - lol

Thanks, Denise.  It's a little too out-of-the box for me.  Really want to do a more subdued one.  Yours was so sophisticated!

that just shows how important colour choice is when it comes to the "atmosphere" in an artwork O0

My submission for this class. I have included the picture that I found on pixaby. Suggestions for improvements are greatly appreciated

great job Sherri

I would add some of those hearts over the area where the neck ends so you can't see their endings. That stops the beheaded effect O0

According to portrait rules the head should always include at least a portion of the shoulder

Nolan. Thanks for the feedback. I sure missed the beheaded rule but I definitely see the issue. Wasn't sure what to do about it. I will add some more hearts. I have been thinking about outlining the "love" with black on only the left side of the letters. I feel like it needs something!!  What do you think about that????  Any other suggestion?

Thanks
Sherri

That's so pretty Sherri! I'm curious, what is the word "love" made out of?

I didn't know about including part of the shoulder in portraits - good to know  :)

I explain the head and shoulder concept in the oil portrait course O0

Sherri, is the love working not a 3d object, ie. it casts it's own shadow (it seems to in the photo)? If it is I would not add a painted shadow as it may counteract the natural shadow

Nice work, Sherri.  Looks like you are getting ready for Valentine's Day.

Like how you made this really your own.

Good idea, Sherri.  Love-themed art should be a good seller at this time of year.
