Recently bought some watercolor tubes,  and I would like a palette that can fold up or close or something to save the left over paint I don't use.   Basically like an empty watercolor pan set that I can squeeze the tubes In.  Anyone got any suggestions?  First choice would be something metal,  but plastic is also fine.   Thanks in advance!  :)

Zach, many palettes have lids or covers. I suggest you explore palettes online at places like Cheap Joe's (my favorite) or Jerry's Artarama. You'll probably find exactly what you want there.

Check Blicks.com for ideas, they have a big selection.  You don' t have to buy from them but many Canadians do when they cross the border (I buy online and have it delivered to a US address before I go), especially now with our weak dollar $0.72!!!
When in SF, I went to one of there stores.  It was fun to touch all the art stuff...

I purchased one of these at Hobby Lobby for $2 but the paints tend to fall out after they dry. I thought that perhaps sanding the area where you squeeze the paint would be the best to keep them from falling out. :help:

Another idea I have considered is making a portable paint container using Altoids tins.

I've have tried several palettes. Everyone has different preferences, Zach. This is the one I use now:

Bryce, the Altoid tin is really cute! How do you make the inset? As a companion to this, one could use a metal butcher's tray for mixing colors. They are available on Amazon.

Bryce, ya I've looked at those before,  thinking I'm definitely gonna try it out for something fun.

BeaSue,  you can buy Watercolor half and/or full pans on Amazon.   Just search "empty watercolor pans".   There only like 30 cents each.
