Playing with Prismacolor Pencils
on:
December 29, 2015, 03:06:12 PM
My daughter received some Prismacolor pencils for Christmas. She was kind enough to let me borrow them!
I am not very good at drawing, but the pencils are really nice to use. These are student quality, because of the cost, but even so, blend very well.

Wow! Great job with these, Christina!
I am starting to use Prismacolor pencils, too. Aren't they fun to use? I've just ordered some instructional books and paper (white & toned gray) and today I bought my odorless mineral spirits.

Christina,
Gorgeous apple. I just watched Nolan's lesson on Apple in Acrylics and I see so many of the techniques he used beautifully done in this apple.
Maybe just a more subtle fading of the dark at the bottom of the apple.

Christina,
Wish I had those fabulous eyelashes!!! Nice reflections on the eye.
Outer eye looks well shaped but the pupil seems sort of squarish. Does the eyebrow seem too small and low for the size of the eye?

Thank you, Susan. They are a lot of fun! I didn't use any mineral spirits. I haven't tried that yet.
Mea, Actually, there is a lot of problems with the eye!
I really don't draw AT ALL and this was the first time I have ever drawn an eye! Although, I am not sure why the pupil appears square. It is almost perfectly round on the drawing. Yes, the eyebrow is definitely too small and low. Something I realized after I finished, but just wanted to show the use of prismacolors. (even at the risk of embarrassing myself!
HaHa!) Definitely need to work on my drawing skills! Maybe, I will try again!
Thank you for the suggestion on the apple.

Tina, your apple is absolutely beautiful. The colours are vibrant and really very well done with Prismacolor pencils. I quite enjoy working with them but find it difficult to blend and yet you seem to have done so well with the blending. I have mineral spirits but I need to learn what to do. A year or so ago, perhaps longer, I did an apple too, I think I put it on the forum. Must go and have a look. I have seen some beautiful work done with pencils and like anything else I suppose, it is practice, practice, practice.

Patricia, Nolan has just created a colored pencil section for us. Yay!
I saw there some of the cp work you did, including those apples. Nicely done!

You have done a brilliant job on the apple C. You must have been hiding in the closet practicing! We'll expect to see more of this, you're already well and away!

Christina,
These are lovely and delicate.
The middle left flower has a petal that looks too short and squared off on its right side just below center. It has a hold of my eye and won't let go.
Otherwise, it is really lovely - love the color.
