Fiona,

Nice work on the gannet.  I like it.  I leaned away from the computer screen and the shadow is a nice mauve.

:thankyou:  Juan for your lovely comment and I also thought that the ocean looked pretty good from the bird's eye view.

Here is my Gannet in flight. The background I used pan pastels. I thought since I had them I might as well practice using them. Some of the colors I did not have so I had to improvise.  ::)

Your gannet looks good, Nina.

Not sure if you meant to do it, but it actually looks like there is fog over the water. I like that effect.  Seen it many times living on cape Cod.

Hope the gannet knows his way.

Great job Nina!  :heeha: How did you like using the pans? I really liked them, more like actually painting (if that makes sense to you).

I haven't had my pan pastels out since the tiger.... there are a number of lessons I want to try. BUT... focused on the drawing right now.
Cheers, Val

:surrender:      :help:    I seem to have garnered some new opportunities which I hadn't counted on. I tried laying the green of the sea first, then adding some of the blue in patches. When I tried to merge the two, the blue just seemed to swallow up the greens.  I tried adding more green over the blue and it seems to disappear into the blue! Dennis never mentioned this was a magic class!  ;D I thought I would just try laying the colours in and not blend them. Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully accepted.  :D

Cheers, Val
