Dennis or Nolan, would it be ok to just grab these templates and try it in watercolor? If not, I'm happy to purchase the class 😊

Denise, you can take any lesson/template and try it in any of the mediums. This is another thing that makes PB special, there are more subjects to draw/paint than you can shake a stick at!  :heeha:

Have fun!!!  :yippee:     :painting: :painting: :painting:
Cheers, Val

:thankyou:  Dennis for a lovely lesson. Unfortunately I never had black pastel paper available and had to use what I had on hand.  Doing this, I encountered a few problems which I tried to overcome as best I could.  Comments and critiques are always most welcomed.   Thank you,  Patricia

This is the altered version of the changes I made.  I think I could have chosen a better colour for the table cloth. I took the photo while it was still dark this morning so the colours are still not as brilliant as they are in real life.

My apologies but I took the second photo when it was still dark as I had to go out early and didn't want to wait to put it back on. However, the underneath picture was taken this afternoon in much more light and which shows the colours more vibrant and not so "washed out" as in the previous photo. Hope this helps and once again, my apologies.  Patricia

Patricia, technically you have done a wonderful job here

The two large pomegranates are too pale; they should much more red in them. I suspect you looked at the photo instead of the demo painting. In the actual photograph they were old and shriveled up and bleached by the sun. When I took the photograph the still life was on a pedestal out in the owner's garden. I had to liven them up a bit

:thankyou:  Dennis for your critique. I looked at both the photo and demo painting, stopped/starting the video a million times but I painted it in the night and colours are not as vivid as in the day time. However, it is an easy fix. Having said that, the black paper makes for a much more vibrant and eye catching painting for sure. Nevertheless, it was still an interesting and most enjoyable lesson. Thank you Dennis.

Pat you've done an excellent job. Looks great! I like it on the light paper...gives it more perspective. A very interesting class.
Good job, young lady.

Well, isn't this such synchronicity for you have been on my mind for days now Retta. In fact, I was thinking of PMing you because I hadn't seen any posts from you in a while and was wondering whether you were O.K. and over your pneumonia. I am so thankful to hear from you and  :thankyou:  for your lovely post which is all the better hearing from you.  Bless you. I especially loved the "young lady" part ... I don't know if 72 years old is considered young but I will take it for sure.  Have just come out of hospital where they kept me over night for a suspected heart attack. I have to see an Internist later on this week who will take a look at my heart.

Thank you once again for your lovely message.    Patricia

Yikes Patricia. I'm sorry to hear of your stay at the hospital. Must take care of that lovely heart.  :smitten: It's beauty shows in your kind and thoughtful posts.  I hope you get into the internist quickly and that all goes well.

Your pomegranate painting is really nice. I,too, like the contrast with the light paper. I look forward to the day I venture into color.

Patricia,

Just saw this topic and realized I had missed seeing your pomegranate painting.  Agree it needs a punch-up in the color.  Otherwise, well done.

Sorry to hear of your health issue.  Hope it clears itself up with no major complications.

Take care of yourself, Patricia, Keep you in our  . I once had very acute angina and was under specialist supervision.
Then during a Sunday Service the Lord dramatically healed me in an instant. Where at work I had to pull myself up the stairs, 8 week later I was actually climbing mountains. That was over 30 years ago. I passed all heart tests with flying colours for my emigration to New Zealand.

:thankyou:  Kathy, Mea and Dennis for your wishes and lovely thoughts and thank you Dennis for remembering me in your prayer time.  Dennis, I thrive on hearing about such wonderful healing. Amazing what transformation can take place with faith and belief.  I am feeling fine and have to take a low dose Aspirin daily to thin my blood and just have to wait to see what the Internist finds later on this week.

Dennis, I put a lot more red into the pomegranates and it really does look so much better, much more vibrant. You are an excellent teacher. We are so blessed and thank you.  Patricia
