:thankyou:  Denise for your lovely comments and prayers. Yes, we serve an awesome God. You will enjoy doing the poms but I think that the black paper really makes them pop and the bowl more eye catching.  Looking forward to seeing your painting.

:( So sorry to hear of your troubles Patricia. Holding thumbs the news from the internist is good, holding you close in my thoughts and meditations. I've always room for one more.   :1hug:

   Oh yes...pomegranates! This is lovely but is there any chance of seeing it with the colour boost? I would be interested in seeing how the boosted colour on the light background compares with the dark. Just curious...  ::)
Cheers, Val

:thankyou:  so much Val for your lovely message and remembering me in your meditations. Oh! dear, you have so much on your plate with your own family. Bless you for having such a caring heart.

Yes, Val, I can certainly take another photo of the changes in colour, which do make a difference for sure and I will post it in the morning as it is dark here now. However, I still feel that black paper really makes the painting pop whereas the lighter background seems too "washed out".  Anyway, you can be the judge.

Patricia, I'm sorry to hear that you have been under the weather.  Thinking of you and praying that the doctors have good news for you.

:thankyou:  So much Jill.  I really appreciate your kind message and prayers.  Yes, it was a bit of a shock but I guess getting up in age has its problems, it is how we handle them that counts. Am just praying that I don't need surgery for I will be 72 in two weeks time.  Anyway, will keep you all posted once I have been seen by the Internist.  Thanks once again for your concern.

Love seeing your take on this lesson, Patricia. And I will keep you in my prayers, that whatever is happening with your heart will soon resolve.

Revised
Highlights and shadows still pretty wonky in the revised but at least I know to pay more attention to the light source from the beginning. Thank you so much everyone!

I used the template from the pastel class and tried it in wc.
Funny how painting poms is so similar to painting petals. Please add your suggestions for improvement, thank you!

Denise,

So much to like with this one.  Love the background.  The bowl looks fabulous - love the way you created the raised design.  That wood-grain strip along the edge of the table looks terrific.

Not sure what color pomegranates are, but these seem too pale to attract attention as the focal point.

Thank you so much Liz, I really appreciate it. Funny you should mention patience - I still don't like working too long on any one piece, but I have definitely been able to not rush as much as before, so  :thankyou: .

Mea, thank you too! I wonder if just adding more layers on the poms would intensify the color and make it better? I'll wait a while and see if anyone has suggestions...

Beautifully done Denise I love the colour of you plate, you could add a bit of the same colour wash again to pump it up as per Mea 's comment. May be more in the shadow area to give it more of a rounding.

    Denise, a fantastic job on the Poms. You are such a good artist. I am no expert and loathe correcting people when I am still learning myself, but having done the lesson, I feel I could be of some help. First off, as you look at the painting, the light is coming from the left and therefore your shadow should be on the other side of the bowl. The two biggest poms should be quite red and the little fruit on the right side ... we are not sure what it is but it should be a sort of grape colour. Not that my painting is by any means perfect but it may give you some guidance as to the highlights and colours. Hope this helps you Denise. Anyway, you have done a wonderful job irrespective and can be proud of yourself.

Denise, I have moved it for you. It is always best to keep the subject matter together O0
Excellent rendering in watercolour    Because you made the light coming from the right, just add a slight shadow on the left side of each of the pomegranates to give them volume. Lift out a slight highlight on the top right as well.
