Good news.  Just got juried into the Aloha Show from May 22 to June  15.   It's held in the courtyard at Honolulu Hale (City Hall).  Hundreds of people walk through that courtyard everyday so it has wide exposure.  My painting there last year ended up on the walls of the Chairman of the City Council.

The two that were accepted were Mahogany Moonlight (watercolor) and Lady Rothschild Orchid (in gouache). Both are 11 x 14".

Charles Baudelaire said „ One should always be drunk. That’s all that matters...but with what? With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you chose. But get drunk.“
I am drunk currently with sketching... 😄

Thanks, Val, Linley, Gita, and Dennis.

Now I have to pick out a pretty dress for the reception.  It is always well-attended by 100's of people - very exciting event.

Thanks, Win and Sharon.

Glad I got that acceptance because I got unaccepted at the Hawaii Watercolor Society show.  I think they did not like that I submitted a gouache painting - the one of the kolea, golden plover.

Instead, my friend asked to display it in his restaurant which will easily be seen by more than 100 people a day.

So, I am feeling better about the rejection.

Sadly rejection is part and parcel of an artist's life. Always hard... BUT, you have many other victories to celebrate. Your work has been exhibited at quite a few other venues, so buck up my love..... where will you take us next?  :heeha:

I'm so sorry to hear this, Mea. It is disappointing but perhaps that Kolea is in the best place it could be. Having your art displayed in a popular restaurant could lead to many new and exciting opportunities.

if it was rejected solely because it was gouache..... how pernickety! However I suppose every group has it's guidelines... they just don't sound like the kind of group that benefit many artists who value freedom to create. I sure the restaurant will be a better venue. :gl:
