I was doing the atmospheric cloud and it is done wet on wet.  So i wetted both side of my paper and I put on my plactic board no tape and my paper never buckled or lifted in the paint process.   I think i will always do that from now on if i do a wet on wet sky.  Then i will wait for my paper to dry completely to proceed with the rest of the painting that does not require the wet on wet.

Hmm.. interesting experiment, Danielle.  How heavy was the paper?

I'm going to try that -- thanks for the tip.

You mean that by wetting the back it adhere to the plastic board and the paper doesn't move?

I have seen my paper, also 140 lb, buckled when I painted large surface while being taped on the board but it returned flat when dried.  I image that it would also depend on the size of the painting.

When you say wet on wet, does it mean you 'paint' water first and then add the pigment and move it around in the watered surface, or that you paint one color first and then add a second color before the first one is dry?

Thanks.  New set of vocabulary to master with WC!
Cheers, Annie

yes Annie, what I did is put water on both side of my paper than i set it on my gater plastic board and it stayed flat until i was done with my painting. It has to be pretty wet.  You can also put it under the water if yuo like. After i started to use my brush with pigment.   Try an abstract painting by putting pigments here and there.  Since it is wet you need more pigment as it dries lighter.
