Zebra in Pastels
on:
April 11, 2016, 08:01:32 PM
I have been doing South African animals for my daughter's rec room as she has done it out in an African theme and I decided to try Nolan's acrylic zebra reference picture but did my own colours and changed it somewhat as far as shadows were concerned and no background which is in keeping with the other animals I have painted. Critiques and comments are always happily received. Thank you. Patricia

Patricia! Your Zebra is gorgeous! I'm sure he will always hold a special place in your daughter's heart and look wonderful in her rec room.
My Mom also painted African animals. They hang in our office at home and bring me much joy.

Win for your lovely comments.
Kathy for your sweet message. Yes, I am sure that my paintings will bring my daughter much joy because I did them for her and besides that, being born and raised in South Africa, she has grown up with the love and respect of the wild animals which brings to mind, that when she was a teenager my husband decided to take her on a game walk and the Game Ranger who had accompanied them said that if they came across a Rhino, just to run behind the nearest tree for their eye sight is very poor. His words were no sooner out of his mouth when they came across a Rhino who charged them. Well, that put the end to my daughter ever going on another wild walk.
Denise for your love, love, love message which is much appreciated. Bless you.

Great zebra, Patricia
Eyes are lovely.
Have you painted it directly on the wall?

Josie for your lovely comments.
Pav for your super comments. No I painted the zebra on pastel paper. I would never think of painting directly onto a wall as I am not that confident yet.
Jill for your sweet comments.
Mea for your encouragement.
Sarlota for your lovely comments. Strange to say, the ears worried me a little but I tried to do the best I could.
Dennis for your wonderful comments too.
I am so encouraged by all your comments and encouragement. Thank you so much, it means a lot to me. Patricia
