I wasn't sure where to put this so thought I'd post it here for now.

This is from the paint-a-long pastel class.  :heeha: What a blast!!!  :yippee:
As usual, Dennis worked at his usual easy pace (  ::) ), while I was just coming to the start line.    Even though we had a number of breaks due to technical issues, which Nolan dealt with expeditiously,  :hammer:   I still never managed to catch up.  :run: So not remembering what the photo looked like, I fudged it with my usual aplomb!  >:D    :2funny:

Without further ado.....

Well done Val.  I missed that one.  No connection at 30,000 feet.

Patricia I so enjoy the live lessons I keep checking back on the timer to make sure I don't miss one.... well, try not to miss one would be more the truth!  ;)    ;D   The next one will be in 25 days I think. I miss the live paintalongs, they are such fun, and for some strange reason I seem to have much more focused attention.

Typical though... the day I have decent internet PB has all the technical issues!!!   :D    :2funny:

Thanks Win, do you think it looks cold? Dennis took the photo on a cold blustery day. Not sure I captured that feeling at all.  ???

Annie I'm so sorry you missed this one. All things considered it really was great fun! Plus I learned quite a bit about my pan pastels. I am a bit limited by my colours, but learned a lot about mixing them.  O0

I'll be interested in watching the replay to see just how much I missed!  ;D

Ta much Susan, good to know I at least managed to show the breeziness of the day!

I think I would have done better starting with a tinted paper, as I did with the tiger. Although it is the same brand and type of paper, the white just seems to have more tooth. I don't like the texture showing through like honeycombs. That's just my feeling, what do you think? Does it detract?

I will watch the replay of course, but I never touch pastel.  Not even sure what they are.

We have boxes of oil pastels, colour paper chalks, soft pastels, and pastel chalks.  I beleive Dennis doesn't use oil pastels, but I cannot differentiate between the other 3 types.

Dennis uses soft pastels, there is a range of hardness to them. They are in stick form and more chalk-like in substance rather than the somewhat gooey oil pastels.

I on the other hand, have a newer version of soft pastel called pan pastel. They are used more like paint and applied with various tools. I have found that they work easily as well with good quality cosmetic sponges rather than the more expensive 'sofft tools' they sell. I bought a 24 colour set...they were on sale and worked out cheaper than the other soft pastels...so...had to try them! I thought they might be easier for me since they are applied more like paint....wrong on that front!  No easier, just different technique.
