Here are written instructions on how to access the course and get the menu to work on your computer

1) To access the course, click the palette icon at the top of your screen, it looks like this:

<- Click these images to enlarge

Note : You have to be logged in before you will see this icon

2) If you have only bought this course, you will immediately be taken to the course page. If however you have bought more than one course, you will first be presented with a list of all your courses. Find the box with the Lets Draw info in it and click the "Access Now" button. You will then see your course lessons.

Access Now button position

You will now see a screen that looks like this:

The first thing you will want to do is install the menu so that after the course has ended you are able to watch the course offline. To do this follow these steps:

3) Create yourself a Folder on your computer called something like "Lets Draw Course". You can either create it on your desktop or in the C drive. Anywhere as long as you can remember where you created it.

4) Download the menu zip file by right clicking it and selecting "save file as" from the menu. Save the menu zip file to your "Lets Draw Course" folder.

Your folder should look like this :

5) Unzip the menu inside the "Lets Draw Course" folder. Your folder should now look like this :

6) At this point you can test that the menu has installed correctly by double clicking the "Lets_Draw_Menu.html" file. A new window will open in your default browser which will look like this :

Note - NOTHING in the menu will work at this stage. As it stands it is just a placeholder for the course. In other words you will get a "Error loading file" message inside the video box and if you click any of the buttons they will open a new tab with an error saying "file not found". This is correct as you haven't downloaded any of the videos or pdfs or extras yet.

The full course is opened up over a period of 27 days. As these lessons open up and you download them, then the menu will gradually start filling up, eg., after you have downloaded the videos for day 0, then the videos for day zero and the day zero button will work on the menu. All the rest will still give you an error. By the end of the course, you will have downloaded all the files needed for the menu to work 100% when you click on any of the buttons, or select any of the videos.

You only need to install the menu once.

7) Next we need to start downloading the actual course lessons. The course consists of videos and pdf notes.
The videos are viewed by clicking the lesson heading in the left hand column and the pdfs notes are all in the right hand column.

To download the videos, click the heading, eg., click "Meet your tutor - Nolan". A popup will appear with the video in it like this :

To watch the video click either of the two play icons.

To download the video right click the blue download button and select "Save File As" from the menu.

Note : It is crucial that you now save the videos to your "Lets Draw Course" folder. If you don't then the menu will not work as the menu looks for them inside your "Lets Draw Course" folder when you select a video to watch.

Note : Don't rename the files. Save them exactly as they are. The menu expects the original file names, so if you rename them, then the menu won't work either.

Do the same for each video.

8} To download the pdf notes and other handouts: These are found in the right hand column as show below

Right click the "Download X-number" text link and select "Save File As" from the menu. Save the pdf to your "Lets Draw Course" folder.

Note : It is crucial that you now save the pdfs to your "Lets Draw Course" folder. If you don't then the menu will not work as the menu looks for the files inside your "Lets Draw Course" folder when you click the buttons.

Note : Don't rename the files. Save them exactly as they are. The menu expects the original file names, so if you rename them, then the menu won't work either.

9) On the first day of the course you can download the lessons for day zero and day 1. So after you have installed the menu and downloaded the videos and the pdfs for day zero and day 1, you can open the menu by double clicking the "Lets_Draw_menu.html" file inside your "Lets Draw Course" folder.

The videos for day zero and one will now play correctly. If you click button zero or button 1 inside the Manuals box, those pdfs will open correctly. All the other buttons and videos will not work yet.

10) Each day, the system will open up a new set of videos and lessons for you to download. The new lessons open up at exactly the same time of the day as when you originally purchased the course. So if you purchased the course at 7pm, then every day the next set of lessons will open up at 7pm.

Note : You will also receive an email reminder about your course lesson each day. These emails are send via the company that handles our mailing list. They send out the emails as it suits their schedule / load that day. This means that you may either get your email for the day earlier or later than the actual lessons becoming available on the site, depending on their schedule. This is out of our control unfortunately. Our lessons open up at exactly the correct time each day.

If you have any hassles accessing the course or setting up your menu please don't hesitate to ask here. We wil gladly help  O0

Hi Nolan,
I started the Learn to Draw last week.  I really am enjoying it.  However, I don't know if I am suppose to be sending you my projects that you have me do, so that they can be reviewed?  Please let me know and if I am, explain or refer me to directions to do this.

Thanks,
Rose M.

Rose, I'm not sure if I gave you a  :welcome: to Paintbasket, but it bears repeating.   :)

It's great news to hear that you are enjoying the drawing course.  Nolan and Dennis come by regularly to see what we are doing and give encouragement and expert advice.

We're a friendly community with a passion for art.

I'm looking forward to seeing your progress in the drawing course.  I have the DVD's and I'm itching to really get into them.

Hello to Lillian and Maryna,

I just found your replys on the Lets Draw Course Instructions forum, sorry I am so late to reply.  Thanks Maryna for your welcome to Paint Basket.  I am thrilled to have found this site.  I am new to drawing and painting, but feel I am learning a lot. Running a little behind this week.  The true test is drawing your own picture from the start.

Is this were I would see comments about my drawings or do I go to another place?  Also, have tried to use the emodicons, but can't figure out how to put them in replies.  I have tried clicking, copying and pasting? So far, haven't been able to do it.  Can someone advise me?

Thanks,
Rose M.

Hi Rose, when posting comments or asking for feedback you can simply select an appropriate feed under the pencil section or you can create a new post under the pencil section.  O0
To use an emoticon you just click on what pic you want like the smiley face, it will look strange while you type here but when you post the face will appear correct. Try it out   :D

Hi Rose,

If you continue to have questions, we're here to help.  We want to see you on the forum.  It's not really as complicated as it looks at first.  It shouldn't take you long to figure out all the features, just play around a bit and it will all become clear.   :gl2:
