Class Description

“Snug as a Pug in a Rug”

Who doesn’t like the cute face of these “miniature bulldogs” as I call them? Especially this one, all wrapped up against the winter cold. Obviously he/she is a very happy and pampered chappie.

In this lesson you will learn:

1 how to block in the colors
2 how to capture the glint in the eyes
3 how to add the damp reflections on the nose and mouth
4 how to give the impression of hair details
5 and more …

Very much enjoyed the course but my one criticism was that the artist did not say exactly what materials he was using ie make of pencil and exactly what colour. I may possibly have missed a list of them at the beginning or end but i dont think i did.

Unfortunately there is no colour list. The reason is that in most of the kits the colours are not designated and also if they do have paper sleeves those sleeves get removed and you are left with only the bare sticks. Study the pastelists and you will notice that all their boxes are full of pastel sticks without a single piece of paper on them. They all pick the nearest colour required by sight.
I’m using Faber Castell Pastel Pencils. I never look at the colour names. I just match the colour I need by sight.
Don’t try to match my colours exactly, just choose the closest you have. The exact colours are NOT that important: the techniques are. All the pugs do not have exactly the same colour anyway.
