Class Description

These European Bee-eaters are migratory birds and are found as far south as South Africa. I believe that they fly non-stop from Europe – no mean feat indeed!  Their plumage is very colourful and you will be painting this one in Soft Pastel.

In the lesson you will learn:

1.  How to simplify the background for effect
2.  How to add the branch and leaves
3.  How to paint the body
4. How to paint the eye

This went wrong immediately. Dennis told us to draw the background, which is fine. BUT he drew his background all around the shape of the bird! I had no idea how to outline the bird. That’s why I took this class. Was there a previous session that taught how to outline a bird? Trying to follow all the rest of the lesson, I had a pudgy bird, not resembling the example, and it didn’t match up with Dennis’s guidance because no one ever told me how to draw this bee-eater. A very poorly-planned session. Deeply disappointed.

Hi Carol. Thanks for you comments.
Just below the tutorial video you will see the “DOWNLOAD REFERENCE PDF’. Did you download it?
The PDF contains a ton of information as well as the template for outlining the Bee-eater.
You will see that the session was indeed well planned 🙂
