Class Description
In this live class series we will paint the famous Dance at Bougival by Renoir. The idea is to learn how to render folds in fabric as well as how he painted in an impressionistic style.
I will paint in oil, but you are welcome to follow along in acrylic.
This is a great class for intermediate and up artists.
For the class you will need:
1) Canvas with 2:1 proportion
2) Paint Brushes -set of bristle brushes as well as fine liners
3) Paints – I estimate using these colours: Titanium White, French Ultramarine, Sap Green, Cadmium Yellow, Raw Umber, Yellow Ochre and Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson.
Please transfer the painting outlines to the canvas before class.

I enjoyed just being part of the class firstly! Having painted realistically upto now I am hoping to learn how to loosen my painting! An excellent representational example of Renoirs, Dance at Bougival. (using only primary color: red, blue & yellow plus white) Remembering that Artist of the times often ground/mixed their own pigment from raw materials, therefore, fewer colors meant less time lost before starting to paint. I enjoyed this one very much. Well worth the effort.
